JOSHUA TREE CARAVAN
They come with all their magical things, with their furs…..the gypsy caravan. .
I was born on a Thursday morning, market morning, in my small town that held a weekly market on the cobblestone courtyard of our old church. One could say, I was born to be a market merchant. It was my favorite place to go since I could remember. To see all the farmers, and merchants from far away towns that came by horse and buggy. I grew up in a tiny rural town, we had no paved roads, but we had amazing handmade things made by the town locals.
Beautiful hides, embroidered dresses, hand sewn leather shoes, farm fresh food, and skilled tradesman that made quality. I always knew that its more important to have fewer items, but items that speak to you, that will last you, that you will cherish.
Ive been selling at markets for a long time, flea markets, farmers markets, designer markets. I love them all but a good ole flea market is my favorite.
Setting up a table cloth in the middle of the desert and offering one of a kind objects to passers-by is magical and rewarding. It brings you back to a different time when we had more imagination and the world was a kinder and more colorful place.
How beautiful is this desert? That sky? Its priceless.
